Beykoz – Göknarlık Excursion Area
Tokatköy- Göknarlık offers a different kind of beauty in Beykoz. The fir trees grow over an area measuring 46.5 hectares and provide a stunning atmosphere. No sunlight can filter trough the trees, and walking under them stirs up a variety of emotions. The area, surrounded by chesnut trees, is extremely easy to find because of its proxiity to the Beykoz Municipality Center.
Commander’s Excursion Area
Commander’s Excursion Area has a wide range of fauna and flora; this can easily be reached from the centers of Kemerburgaz or Belgrad Forest. The area attracts attention because of its running track and sitting areas. There is a legend about this area: During the final years of Ottoman Empire, a troop of soldiers needed to take refuge here. This was times of hunger and thirst. The soldiers were discontent, yet they could not leave the camp. The troop commander started to try to solve the problems of the soldiers’ thirst and hunger. He began digging a well night and by morning he had found water; thus his name was given to this area. The cafeteria at the entrance is well equipped to meet the needs of most visitors. There is a charming playground for children in the excursion area.
