Turkish tea is an art of cooking and presentation of tea that is unique to the Turks. Tea is a kind of drink consumed in almost every corner of the world. If you want to visit our country, you must know that Turkish tea is indispensable for Turkish breakfast. Although the Turks consume tea especially at breakfast tables, it is a habit for them to consume tea after every meal of the day. What makes this tea superior to others and what makes it so popular?

Special Turkish tea prepared according to traditional methods

In this particular method, a teapot (demlik) consisting of two parts is used to prepare the drink. Turkey is also one of the countries that have a say in the production of tea in the world at the same time. The natural beverage production is done in the Eastern Black Sea region of the country. The reason for the excessive production of tea in this region is that it is the region where natural rain rate is highest. Rize is known as the most tea-producing city in Turkey. The black tea produced here is sold both in the country and worldwide. It would be right to use black tea produced by the Black Sea to make a nice Turkish tea.

Traditional teapot used to prepare Turkish tea. Tea is placed on the upper part of the two pieces, and water is placed on the bottom part.

With classical methods, coarse (teapot) water, large enough to prepare Turkish tea, is placed and left to boil. Tea and some hot water are put into a small portion of the two-piece broth. You should pay attention here. If you put a lot of water in the small, coarse, the consistency of the tea will be low. For Turkish tea this is not a good feature. One of the characteristics that makes Turkish tea famous is the blood color. For this reason it is called “Rabbit Blood (Tavsan Kani)” in the country. In order to catch this red color, you have to make it dark. In order to get the dark red color of tea, it is enough to add a little water to the small piece with the upper part of the teat. Another point that makes Turkish tea famous is the service type. When serving the beverage, you should use a small, glass cup with a curling. This glass cup should not be too big. The name of the cup is known as “Ince Belli” cup in Turkey. It is a name dedicated to the delicate body of women. First of all, a small part of the bouillon is poured into this thin cup called “Dem“. Then hot water is added to the large portion of the brew.

Note: Tea production in Turkey in the real sense began in the 1920s. Mihla province agricultural engineer Zihni Derin and lawyer Hulisi  brought the first tea fideleri.

A Wonderful Turkish Tea Recipe

It is a stylishly designed glass used by the Turks to serve “Turkish” tea, which is called “İncel belli (slim)” cups.

How to prepare a wonderful Turkish tea in your home. We will share the most wonderful Turkish tea recipe you can make at home, practically at the same time. However, we need to point out that making Turkish tea requires attention and skill. Do not expect it to be wonderful the first time. If you make Turkish tea over and over again over time, you can make more healthy and beautiful tea. The ingredients we need are black tea, water, sugar and teapot.

First of all, we have to make sure that the teapot and all the other materials we use are clean. A tea in which other ingredients are mixed is never beautiful. At the same time the consistency of the tea will deteriorate. It is very important to use clean drinking water for the Turkish tea to be beautiful. We fill the bottom of the kettle with water so that it does not overflow. We then put it on the oven and leave it to boil it. When the teapot starts to boil, we add 7-8 sweet spoon black tea to the upper part, which is the small part. For this tea to be delicious, it is important to use Turkey’s native tea (tea made in Rize).

After we have done this, we pour boiling water at the bottom of the brewer into the area where we have added black tea. We then fill up most of it with water and let it boil. After that, you will be able to make a great Turkish tea by lowering the fire a little and baking it in a low heat. Approximately 15-20 minutes after our tea will be ready. Now you can pour your delicate glass cups and serve with sugar. Service times for Turkish tea are usually morning, noon and evening. If you smoke, you can enjoy your cigarette together with tea. Especially on cold winter nights your hot tea and your cigarette will be a great pair.
