Things to do in Istanbul are unlimited, but most of them may require a certain budget. But it is also possible to enjoy the city for free. We have turned this route into Istanbul to learn how to discover authentic Turkish life at more affordable prices. Exit to Istanbul with our treasure-worthy tips that will not cost you a pound.

Take the tour

Istanbul is one of the most crowded cities in the world so set up a route for city tour. Take a free tour with high-priced tour companies, such as the New Generation Tour. These friendly, local, multilingual guides take you and guide you to the best places and attractions in Istanbul.
The places mentioned include a look at the ancient Islamic calligraphy in the legendary old bookstores, Hagia Sophia, which was actually a Byzantine cathedral, later converted into a gallery and eventually a museum. The tour starts at 10:45 am in the Sultan Ahmet park, which is one of the oldest cities, and takes 2.5 hours.

See Cihangir Neighborhood with different environment

Cihangir in the heart of Beyoglu region is a place to go for French architecture and those who want to follow it.
You can probably come to any early midday to apply the religious rituals of the modern Istanbulites on the streets. Despite the old tranquil Sultanahmet district nearby, this is a more lively place with its different street musicians and colorful constructions.

Allow your nose to take you to the Spice Bazaar

There is no doubt that Istanbul is a 400-year-old Egyptian Bazaar in Eminönü, which is favorable to us.
As you wander through colorful corridors and stroll through thousands of exotic smells, you will be amazed how the bazaar reflects the ethnic structure of the city, with its spices blended with the East of Europe and Asia.
If you want to visit more, walk up the bridge and go to Beyoglu’s famous Istiklal Caddesi. This excellent street is often referred to as the heart of Istanbul, with thousands of people coming to taste the very tasted wet burgers and to go to the crowded, loud taverns in the Flower passage.

Pass Galata Bridge

The Galata Bridge, which replaced the other four bridges in the Golden Horn river in time and was built in 1994, symbolizes 16 centuries of Byzantine and Turkish history. Most people cross the bridge by tram or car, but the 490-meter walking path offers a great cross-section of the everyday life of this great city.
Stop at the bridge and watch the local fishermen ‘s prey from sunrise to sunset, play backgammon with local people, or spend time in the markets below. And all the while, do not forget to watch the panorama of the city from the bridge.

Museum visits

Istanbul Archaeology Museum

There are many museums and art galleries you can visit in Istanbul. Pera Museum is the best. Opened in 2005, the museum successfully preserves the rich cultural heritage of the city with its 3 permanent collections called ‘Orientalist drawings’, ‘Anatolian weights and measures’ and ‘Kütahya tiles and ceramics’.
The multi-storey gallery also houses exhibitions of international artists such as Rembrandt, Picasso and Kahlo. Normally the entry to the museum is 15 liras, but you can get it free on Friday evenings from 18:00 to 22:00.
And if you want something a bit more fun and educational, SALT is the right place for you with its two institutes where you can learn about the economic sights and architectural styles of the city. Located in Beyoğlu and Galata, these two beautiful places become a research center for you, close to cinemas and great art galleries and fascinating art works, and are always free!

Party at Ortaköy!

If you want to be in a place where life is alive in the heart of Istanbul after a long discovery day, then do not think of any other place than Ortaköy. During the day, people gaze at the Ortaköy Mosque, and some artists who suddenly appear try to sell their works in the streets.
At night, windy weather makes a very cool night club even more tempting. We would like to remind you that the entrance to Anjelique, which is world famous, is free, but that drinks are expensive.
If you do not want to hang out at all night parties Ortakoy is a very good place to visit at night. It is a perfect, even romantic place to finish the day in Istanbul with the inspiration of the Sea of Marmara and the brilliance of the city reflected in the water like glamorous gold. It must be remembered that sometimes the best things in life are really free.
